Biography

Ashwin Raghuraman is a final-year student at the University of Notre Dame in the US. From Australia and California, he studies International Relations and Russian in the Keough School of Global Affairs, with a focus on democracy and international development. A Kellogg International Scholar, Ashwin works with Dr. Nikhit D’Sa in the Global Center for the Development of the Whole Child on its project to measure Teacher Agency in Uganda. Ashwin specifically focuses on the conceptualization of teacher agency in academic literature, and previous attempts to quantify agency. His research also includes assessing the impact of top-level frameworks in refugee education in a comparative analysis study, which is also supervised by Dr. D’Sa. Ashwin also works with the Keough School of Global Affairs, where he assists on a project to quantitatively track impact factors of publications. Last summer, Ashwin received a Pushkin Grant to study Russian in Kyrgyzstan. In the US, Ashwin is Captain of the Notre Dame Debate Team, where he won first place at the ACC National Championship in D.C. last year. As a Visiting Junior Fellow at the Institute for Advanced International Studies in Uzbekistan, he will be working on topics related to Central Asian politics this summer.
