We are pleased to announce the next session of the Frontier Talks series, an expert lecture entitled “Perspectives on China’s Foreign Policy in Central Asia”. The event will offer a timely and substantive discussion of one of the most consequential dimensions of contemporary regional and global geopolitics, focusing on China’s evolving role in Central Asia and the broader implications for regional cooperation and international affairs.
The lecture will be delivered by Professor Zhang Jian, a distinguished scholar from the Department of Diplomatic Studies at China Foreign Affairs University (CFAU). Professor Zhang has been affiliated with the department since 1997 and previously served as Deputy Dean. His academic and research work has been devoted to diplomatic studies, European studies, international relations, and Chinese diplomacy, with particular attention to regional dynamics and foreign policy strategies.
During the lecture, participants will have the opportunity to explore China’s strategic interests and foreign policy priorities in Central Asia, the role of the Belt and Road Initiative in shaping regional cooperation, and the scientific and educational dimensions of China–Central Asia relations. The session is expected to provide valuable academic and policy-oriented insights for professors, researchers, and students interested in international relations, diplomacy, and contemporary Asian affairs.
