On September 11, the Institute for Advanced International Studies (IAIS) and Fudan University (China) held an online expert roundtable dedicated to the results of the Tianjin SCO Summit and discussion of its future role in the international system.
Researchers and analysts from Uzbekistan and China took part in the discussion. IAIS was represented by Deputy Director Odil Gafarov and Head of the Center for Asia-Pacific Studies Abbos Bobokhonov.
The experts exchanged views on the key outcomes of the summit, highlighting the adoption of important documents, including the SCO Development Strategy until 2035 and the Tianjin Declaration. It was noted that these decisions set long-term guidelines in the areas of regional security, economic cooperation, and humanitarian ties.
In this regard, special attention was paid to issues of security, economic cooperation, and the principles of equality and consensus, which maintain the SCO's attractiveness to new partners. It was emphasized that the future of the organization is largely linked to the strengthening of its economic and financial components, including the initiative to create the SCO Bank.
Following the discussion, the parties expressed their willingness to continue academic exchanges and joint research, emphasizing the importance of dialogue in finding solutions in times of global turbulence.
