From 12 to 19 September 2026, Dovud Usmonov participated in an international seminar for young professionals from Uzbekistan’s analytical centres, held in Shanghai, China, organised by Shanghai International Studies University (SISU) and coordinated by the Shanghai Academy of Global Governance and Area Studies (SAGGAS). The programme brought together representatives of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, leading analytical institutions, and academic community to exchange knowledge and explore China’s experience in public governance, economic development, international relations, and technological innovation.

The week-long programme featured a series of expert lectures delivered by distinguished scholars and practitioners from leading Chinese universities and research institutions, including Fudan University, Tongji University, Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, and SISU. A separate component of the programme focused on technological development and artificial intelligence. During a visit to the Shanghai Institute of Artificial Intelligence, participants explored China’s emerging AI development agenda, including practical applications, technological security, and international cooperation.

Through expert discussions and institutional visits, the programme provided an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of China’s governance practices, policy-making mechanisms, and approaches to economic and technological transformation, while considering their broader relevance to Uzbekistan and Central Asia.
